Chad Spencer
M.Ed., LPCA
Chad sees clients in the Greenville location.
Chad studied theology at Elim Bible College, earned his BA in Humanities at Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY in 2009, and a M.Ed in Counseling and Human Development from Lindsey Wilson College in 2021.
His passion for counseling was developed in working with a variety of people in the non-profit world – those with chronic illnesses that were fighting to make through another day, and others that were trying to rebuild their lives through a trauma, incarceration, or addiction. Chad works with individuals as young as 7 through the lifespan, with couples and with families.
"People have a narrative about their lives and circumstances that keep them in a thought cycle that can be debilitating."
Chad utilizes a trauma-informed approach to establish a safe space where clients can begin to look at the places where they feel shame or fear. He incorporates CBT and narrative therapy to work with clients to explore a deeper, truer picture; a vision that empowers clients to face fears and challenges with a new perspective.
"Getting unstuck from the past involves seeing yourself through a clearer lens, free from the lies we have believed and have told ourselves. With fresh eyes, one can take brave new steps in hope."
Chad enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, cooking, watching sports and trying to make his wife laugh.
Chads treatment approaches include:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Narrative Therapy
Person-Centered Therapy
Adlerian Play Therapy (kids 6+)
Mindfulness
Christian based Counseling
