un·moored
/ənˈmo͝ord/
(of a vessel) not or no longer attached to a mooring.
(of a person) insecure, confused, or lacking contact with reality.
As a name, Unmoored represents the fusion of its definitions. Individuals who are tied down by a history of trauma feel insecure, confusion, and often lack accurate perceptions of reality. They feel unmoored. They are tied to the mooring of trauma, much like a boat in the harbor. The story we tell is that they can move from feeling unmoored to becoming unmoored. With our help, they can untie from trauma and experience freedom from no longer being moored to their past.
As a practice, Unmoored Counseling Collective is a group of therapists that specialize in trauma-informed therapy.
Founded in 2016 by Lizbeth Graffeo, Unmoored was the fulfillment of a calling to provide care and treatment for those who have experienced trauma or have unique disorders such as dissociation.
Therapists in the collective have a lot in common when it comes to treatment. But more importantly, the Unmoored Collective values:
Belief
Restoration
Joy
Unmoored Counseling Collective provides professional and comprehensive psychotherapy/counseling services, education, and assessments that are consistent with research and science based in neurobiology of trauma and the impact on the brain.
