Gloria Stoilova is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with over 13 years of experience in providing clinical services to individuals, families, couples and groups. She graduated from the University of South Carolina with a three-year graduate degree of Education Specialist alongside a Certificate in Psychiatric Rehabilitation. Gloria also obtained two majors and a minor during her four years of Bachelor’s degree program as a French and Experimental Psychology Major and an Italian Minor. Gloria has seven years of clinical experience from working with individuals struggling with eating disorders, and four additional years focusing on trauma survivors from sexual assault. Gloria is also certified in VSP (Victim Service Provider) for the state of South Carolina.

Gloria was born and grew up in Bulgaria before her family relocated to the USA. Her immigration experience initiated one of the greatest learning curves for her as it challenged and stimulated learning a brand new culture in a brand new language, incorporating emotion regulation skills, mindfulness of self and the environment, interpersonal effectiveness and flexibility in connecting to people as well as maintaining boundaries so as to adapt to the new culture while not lose her personal identity and cultural background. As a young child, Gloria ran to a monastery in Bulgaria where she sought to learn the mystical and sacred ways of being a Healing Presence. This Healing Presence became her life-long dream and learning curve in humanity, compassion and restoration of human dignity and free will.

Gloria’s personal journey included many years of exploration of the unknown, traveling and meeting with diverse cultures and spiritual practices before she settled into the Orthodox Christian Tradition where she encountered the science of Silence and Stillness of Heart also known as Hesychia, contemplation by learning to descend the mind into the heart and becoming fully present in the moment where the power to make free decisions dwells, and the practice of Proskomen which means “wake up and pay attention.” Gloria was always fascinated by the mystery that is beyond human control and seems to be at the core of the universe. Gloria has been called an avid learner and curious by nature by friends, colleagues and her Clinical Supervisor who first exposed her to the art of healing trauma using Gestalt, Psychosomatic Movement and Creative Experiential Therapies. In her quest for growth, she attended numerous and diverse experiential practices of different cultures, including Hinduism, Buddhism, shamanism, Reiki, Human Energy Subtle Systems, quantum sciences, energy psychology and many more. Those experiences enriched Gloria’s understanding of human nature’s strengths and limitations, both of which she regards as gifts. She tested them against the abundance of evidence-based scientific field as she pursued higher education and consistent continued professional growth in the spheres of mental health. Today, Gloria relies on her decades-worth of experience to reach out people from all social and cultural backgrounds, meet them where they are, as they are, authentic, capable and beautiful, focusing on their strengths and unique purpose in life.

You don’t have to belong to any faith at all to benefit from Gloria’s professional and diverse expertise. Gloria strives to hold space for individuals where they may feel seen, heard, and empowered to grow and heal.
